Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) has an aggressive exploration program geared to optimize production and replenish reserves. The company has invested in acquiring state-of-the-art integrated technology and enhancing human resource competencies to achieve desired outputs and minimize risks through well-coordinated teamwork and strategic partnerships with local and international Exploration and Production companies.

The Exploration & Business Development (E&BD) Directorate consists of three Assets; South, North and Frontier Asset (Frontier Asset includes a block in Iraq) and also looks after partner-operated offshore blocks in Pakistan and one partner operated onshore block in Yemen. In addition, New Venture, International & Unconventional (NVIU) and Subsurface Technologies & Support Services (STSS) departments also fall under the domain of E&BD Directorate.

Pakistan Petroleum  Limited (PPL) operates 13 production fields in Sui, Kandhot, Adhi, Mazarani, Chachar, Adam, Adam west Shahdadpur, Shahdadpur west, Shahdadpur east , Fazal and Dhok Sultan – the first two wholly owned by PPL – and has working interest in 23 partner -operated producing assets.

Daily gas production of PPL from its operated and partner-operated fields stands around one billion cubic feet  equivalent (bcfe) of gas per day, which translates into  nearly 22 percent of the country’s total population (gas equivalent). The company’s major clients comprises  Sui Southern Gas Company Limited (SSGCL), Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) and Water and Power Development  Authority

CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER

Required Qualification & Experience:

4-year bachelor’s/ master’s degree in petroleum/ mechanical/ chemical or related engineering discipline from reputable local or foreign institutions/ universities recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, preferably from a foreign university,  with minimum 25 years of experience in production/ drilling operations, projects execution and portfolio/ asset management, including at least 8 years in a management position in an E&P company.

Job Profile/ Specifications:

  • Able to develop and accomplish work plans by leading asset managers to ensure uninterrupted production and sales to achieve financial and operational targets across all producing assets, including mineral development projects
  • Capable of giving direction to petroleum engineering team for providing best solutions/ techniques for effective reservoir and well management as well as developing effective reservoir models and plans for field development, utilizing best available technological solutions
  • Able to provide direction on drilling of wells, completion and testing for evaluation of hydrocarbon potential and optimal production to provide value for the company
  • Capable of developing and implementing strategy for efficient development of oil and gas discoveries by mitigating technical and commercial risks associated with discoveries’ monetization
  • Able to provide guidelines to develop short and long-term strategic goals, production strategy, work programmes and proposals for improvement, expansion or addition in production and infrastructure/ facilities and address depletion in aging fields for continual improvements
  • Able to secure company’s interest in partner-operated areas by monitoring performance, production and development plans to ensure execution of scheduled activities in line with approved joint venture work programme, budget and AFEs
  • Be able to hold overall responsibility for designing, developing work programmes and completing projects/ tasks efficiently and in time while confirming to highest QHSE standards
  • Able to participate and/or represent PPL in a variety of industry, institutional and professional forums as well as at regulators and ministries

GENERAL MANAGER STRATEGY AND BUSINESS EXCELLENCE

Required Qualification & Experience:

Chartered Accountant and/ or bachelor’s or master’s degree in petroleum/ mechanical/ chemical or related engineering discipline from reputable local or foreign institutions/ universities recognized by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, preferably from a foreign university, with minimum 22 years of experience, including at least 7 years in a management position, preferably in an E&P company.

  • Able to apply business and marketplace knowledge to advance the organization’s goals. Maintains ample, up-to-date business and industry knowledge in order to make sound decisions for the company. Understands policies and other external factors affecting the organization.

  • Capable of providing specialist advice to management and Board to guide the implementation of enterprise risk management policy and design and implementation of key risk/ performance indicators
  • Able to make sense of complex, high quantity and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems which anticipate and balance the needs of multiple stakeholders
  • Able to ensure periodic updating of Business Continuity Management System through regular drills and training

GENERAL MANAGER EXPLORATION & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Required Qualification & Experience:

Master’s degree in geosciences from reputable local or foreign institutions/ universities recognized by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan, preferably from a foreign university, with at least 22 years of experience in exploration, including minimum 7 years in a management position in an E&P company

Job Profile/ Specifications:

  • Capable of leading Exploration Directorate and maintaining strategic oversight by developing and directing domestic and international exploration strategy in line with the company’s vision
  • Able to identify business growth opportunities (oil and gas exploration assets-bidding, acquisition farm-ins/ outs, acquisition of reserves etc.) and coordinate their evaluation in collaboration with multidisciplinary team and prepare recommendations for consideration of management and Board
  • Capable of analyzing geological risks associated with Pakistan’s basins and develop strategy to hedge risks by designing and maintaining a balanced hydrocarbon exploration portfolio
  • Able to identify potential new discoveries within existing/ mature fields in the most efficient manner
  • Capable of analyzing minerals deposits in Pakistan and formulate a strategy to develop and implement an efficient mineral exploration and development programme
  • Able to coordinate special strategic studies such as M&A target identification and due diligence, identification of new exploration opportunities both local and international
  • Be able to ensure that all exploration plans and activities meet and integrate with organizational requirements for quality management, health and safety, regulatory and environmental policies to safeguard the company’s interest
  • Capable of strategizing, planning and executing exploration of unconventional hydrocarbons by employing latest techniques as R&D projects or commercial ventures subject to required corporate validations and approvals
  • Possess experience of securing timely approval of exploration work programme and budgets from government and joint venture partners

Required Qualification & Experience:

Master’s degree in mass communication/ strategic and organizational communications/ digital marketing & communications from reputable local or foreign institutions/ universities recognized by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan with minimum 20 years of active and relevant experience, including at least 5 years in a managerial position. Experience in a media house and/ E&P industry would be preferred.

Job Profile/ Specifications:

  • Possess proven ability to independently develop strategic content, maintaining strategic and wide-ranging contacts in the print, electronic, social, and online for building and maintaining image of the company as well as proactively dealing with repute threatening content and media coverage
